Everyone's talking about Junior Prom. Some people even got asked! :O Drama is also starting. Wow, it's so wonderful....not. People think Charles is my boyfriend, thus I think no one is going to ask me. WELL, he's not! WE'RE JUST FRIENDS! OKAY NOW COME ASK ME, now that we've gotten that straightened out! Haha :P I feel so desperate. Junior Prom blows.
My Switchfoot rant (December 26, 2003 post)proved itself correct today. Jen gave me a Switchfoot bookmark because she got a ton from the Smoke Signal room. Chris Nguyen then says, "Oh hey, I know that band. I like them." I know that Chris isn't Christian, so I asked him, "Why do you like them?" And he said, "Uh.. I don't know. They're music is pretty good. They sound nice." Max then cuts in, "Yeah they're a white boy rock band." I asked Chris what song he liked from them, and he told me he liked "Dare You to Move." I then asked him what he thought the lyrics were trying to say, and he told me "The person needs to move on with life and take action?" Then the final question came down. I asked, "Do you know that Switchfoot is a Christian band?" Chris had no idea. Neither did Max. This is what I don't like about Christian bands like these. They sing for the wrong purposes and the songs aren't even reaching out to people because the lyrics are totally vague. So vague, and so into the world, that the real meaning of the worship is completely lost. And then they just become another secular band. Another "white boy rock group." I want to watch The Passion of Christ. Who would like to join me? |
