I had fun with Alex McQ, Tracy, and her boyfriend Jobu yesterday! It was great seeing them again and it felt like summer once again. Alex and I laugh at almost everything, and my throat got sore by the end of the day from laughing so much. It'd be really cool if we go to USC together.
I got a very cute book at Urban Outfitters called The Little Book of I Love You. Maybe I'll scan some pages and post them here some time. Ever since before I can remember, I've always had a thing against buying and wearing college apparel. What if years later, I would get rejected from that college? Then that's the waste of a perfectly good (and very expensive) sweater (or whatever). I'd also be haunted whenever I see it, and think about my rejection. I don't like to publicly announce my dream schools. When adults ask me what my first choice is, I try to wiggle my way out of it. I tell them something like, "Um.. I don't really know." However, I've realized that I need to get rid of this sense of embarassment and need to stop thinking about what other people will think of me. If I get rejected, so what? It wasn't meant to be. So here it is. My top choice college is Cornell University. However, recently, I'm not very sure if I want to go there. If I get accepted, it will be into their intense and rigorous 5-year architecture program (one of the best in the nation). I'm not sure if I'm up to it. It will be a really good opportunity, but I'm not even sure if I love architecture that much to put myself through it. I've heard that Cornell architecture students lack a social life and get really stressed out. It's also really far away and I get extremely home sick. My second choice is UC Berkeley. It's so much different from Cornell, which is a bit ironic that these two colleges are my top choices. It's a public school, it is very close to home, and it's a 4+2 year architecture program. One side of me wants to get accepted to both, but one side of me doesn't because if I do, it'll be the hardest decision of my life. Or God could make it even easier, and reject me from both, and I can go to USC. Auntie Marina told me something very true and encouraging, "Your first choice college may not be God's first choice college for you." So I'm just going to leave it up to Him. I want Him to run my life, not me. I just off the phone with a very long and good phone call with Kim! She was talking about her friend from Southern California (she just came back, lucky girl!). Kim said that her friend is very good and nice to boyfriends who treat her like crap. Kim asked her why she even puts up with these type of guys, and her friend said that she wants to leave an impression on the guys so that when they think back on her, she'll be one of the "should'ves." A girl that would be considered, "I should've been better to her, then maybe I would have a great relationship with her right now." "The one that got away." I think that's a very cool way of thinking. Hahaha my mom just gave me some college news (she checked the mail). I got waitlisted to Wellesley College. When she gave me the envelope she said, "Uh oh it's thin." I said, "Hahaha do I even care?!" I applied because my mom wanted me to. That's the only one. I will be glad to give up my waitlist spot for someone else! :) |
