After a study session with some Eastbay girls (yes, they motivate me to study!), I was clarified about a lot of the membership issues. I'm glad I talked to them about it because I was thinking about things that weren't true. At first I thought that taking membership class meant that we weren't "allowed" or we shouldn't attend our church from home. What Pastor John MEANT was that as long as we're here at Berkeley, we should attend only one church here to serve commitedly. Also, we shouldn't make plans for the future as in plan on going out of state for grad school because God brought us to Berkeley for a reason if we prayed to find a good church.
Membership class isn't some sort of baptism into the church or anything. We're already part of the body--one church. Its use is for practicality. I know some of you older ones at Cupertino are concerned, and it's great that you guys care enough to email me, but don't worry! I'm tremendously learning and growing spiritually here. :)
