Life at home is so BORING. Fremont is boring! All there is to do is to eat, talk, and watch movies. My list of watching holiday movies is almost complete! Yesterday I watched The Family Stone and today I watched Memoirs of a Geisha; tomorrow I'm watching King Kong with my family.
I've been trying to spend more of my time reading--the Bible and Memoirs of a Geisha. I really wanted to finish the book before watching the movie, but I just bought it yesterday and I was only up to page 60 or so, but I had to take the opportunity to watch it! The movie was very pretty, but I agreed that it lacked content (or maybe so many people told me that therefore I became biased). Anyway, I'm so sick of people saying that they think Memoirs is "controversial" because it's a book about the Japanese written by an American author, and played by Chinese actors. That's exactly it! THEY'RE ACTORS! I'm sure African-Americans play Jamaicans, Scottish people play Irish, etc. You don't have to be exactly who you are when you play a part in a movie. Gosh. And who cares who wrote the book? Chinese people can only write about Chinese culture? Americans can only write about Americans? AHH. I am also really frustrated by how superficial and looks-obsessive Asians can be. I was watching TV in the living room and I can overhear my mom and grandmother talking to each other about how I'm chubby and how I should lose weight. SERIOUSLY. Is that all you can commonly find interest to talk to each other about? PLUS. I'm right there--20 feet away. Common sense, people. Yesterday I was in the guest room and my mom comes in. She says it smells like a zoo (probably because of my dogs, not me!). She leaves and comes back 5 minutes later SHOUTING. She's saying, "I can't believe you can't smell it!!! ARE YOU IMMUNE TO THE SMELL?! I will NOT let you stay in this room. I WON'T LET YOU HAVE A HOUSE THAT SMELLS WHEN YOU'RE MARRIED." Oh my goodness. My mom was seriously having a spazz attack, as usual. So she makes me move to another room, and then later on forces me to go back to the stinky room to smell it to see if I can tell that it smells. AHHHHHHHH!!!! These are the irritations of home. I need to calm down... or... my mom needs to calm down first so I can too. Oh good news! I had my first "6 month check-up" dental appointment since almost a year ago. I was scared that I would have cavities--but zero! w00t. However, I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled. :( I'll probably get it done over summer break. Ouch... |
