Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. -PSALM 1:1-3 Winter break is coming to a bittersweet end. It has surely been a very quick month. And yet I wonder if I did all the things I had hoped to do. I still haven't talked to my parents about going to church. I reached out to my brother and some of the saints at Cupertino, but in a way I feel like I didn't do enough. I feel like a hypocrite at times. Someone shared today during church that although we do things for the Lord, we do them to say that we did them in a way of "clearing our conscience." Are we doing them because we actively and lovingly pursue the Lord? Or are we just being hypocrites? Only the Lord Himself knows the true nature of our hearts. I've been distracted by idleness. A very contradicting statement, but it's true. However, I've also grown this break. I think the biggest thing I've practiced is patience. Patience as in not having fleshly reflexes to things that would usually bother me, but trusting in God, and to just bring it to prayer. I've also been living without accountability. It's weird... that I would find more "freedom" at home rather than at school. I have brothers and sisters constantly keeping me in check at Berkeley, but here it's such a different environment. However, that has just let me turn to His Word--what would I do without Scripture!? I really don't want to go back to school, but at the same time I feel like it's time to be more educationally, physically, mentally, and spiritually active. Thank You that Berkeley provides all of that. -- Yesterday I karaeoked with my girls at Debra's house. It was fun dancing and screaming our lungs out--yes, superstars are we! We provided entertainment for those who chose to play mahjong. I've been bulking a ton of things to do at the last minute before going back. Today I did two HUGE loads of laundry, packed, nair'd my legs, washed Honey, and cleaned Velveteen (bunny)'s cage. Tomorrow I'm making a short stop to Berkeley to drop off 3/4 of my junk. Cheryl is going to accompany me. :) Wednesday I'm going to Stanford to visit STEPHANIE! Finally. Thursday it's off to Cal and Winter Retreat I gooooo. I know you Berkeley geeks all missed me! ARE YOU READY FOR YOUR LONG AWAITED DOSE OF JANET!? Muahaha. -- Happy 15th birthday to my brother Victor! :) |
