The love for Christ never ceases to amaze me. He is our rock and our never-changing, never-moving foundation. We love one another, serve one another, and carry burdens for one another not because we think we're all super cool people (well we are... haha just kidding.. ahem, HUMBLENESS), but because we LOVE GOD. It's the fruit of the spirit and we need to learn to continually bear this good fruit.
A marriage based on a solid Christian foundation will last and be glorifying because it isn't based on fluctuating emotions and fulfilled temptations, but because it reflects the relationship of Christ and the Church. A man and a woman who love God above everything joining together as one flesh to be the image of Christ and His bride. The head and the body. Isn't that beautiful? This is the love of God. Patient. Kind. Free from jealousy, pride, and evil. Rejoices in truth. Bears all things. Believes all things. Hopes all things. Endures all things. I think it's interesting how non-Christians quote 1 Corinthians 13:2-5 as the definition of love. If they believe that is truth, why not the rest of the Bible? 1 Cor. 13 talks about the greatest gift and that is love--the love of the Father. And because He loves us, we love in return because the love of Christ is in us. |
