"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us...For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?...But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it."

- Romans 8:18-25

Let's stop fearing man and start fearing God.

This was quite a fun-filled week. The Rooney concert was pretty awesome, but I realized I'm not really a concert-type of girl. My ear drums were ringing and deafening by the time it was over. It also wasn't pleasing hearing girls behind me constantly shrieking, "I want your babies!" Nonetheless, there was good music, and quirky performances.

I'm glad I went to Boat Dance with my floor. It was so cute seeing all the girls in our co-ed bathroom getting ready. There were curling irons, straightening irons (well, only mine), mascara, and eyeshadow palettes, laying all across the sink area. We arrived at the SF dock where a 3-decked lighted cruise ship was awaiting us. The night consisted mostly of taking pictures, eating desserts, drinking Shirley temples, and lots of dancing. I have blisters on my feet now.

On Friday, my brother came!!! He came to ECF, Sophomore-Freshman interclass, and everything. He, Jay, and Jake joined forces and decided to go against me. However, we all know that good conquers evil, so their alliance won't last long.

Here is a taste of their bonding.

I found this moment also to be funny.

After Pastor John's sermon on the 3rd of the 10 Commandments:
Me: So what do you think?
Brother: God is scary.

I think Christians often forget that we should fear God. God is good and God is love, but God is also just. We saw His wrath for sin from the suffering that Jesus Christ had to endure for our sakes. I'm so thankful, though, that I have this fear instilled within me. Without it, I would be very much lacking a yearning for a pure and cleansed heart.

Sometimes it puzzles me why people consider Eastbay to be the "super ultra-conservative church." All it is is the preaching of God's word. Bibilical truth. THE TRUTH. I don't want to be fed sugar-coated watered-down truth. I want it straight up. I don't care if it is bitter because in the end I know it will be sweet. How can we grow in our spiritual lives if all we are hearing are about the good happy fluffy things in the Bible? How can we use our own interpretations and mold the Bible to fit into what we think is right or wrong? The point of the Word is not to fear and please man, it is not for us all to feel comfortable, or to get that great "spiritual high." Who ever said that being a Christian was going to be easy?

It's as Sally (or wherever she got this quote) says, "Truth doesn't hurt. Unless it should." Are we constantly being sanctified to live a more godly life? Are we being challenged? We should desire God to break us and mold us.

Be thou my vision...........
