I'm still thinking about Honey. I think for the rest of my life I will continue to. She brought so many happy memories.
Waiting by the door for me to let her in. The texture of her fur. The smell of her tiny feet and how I would bite and kiss them. Her nudging my hand to scratch her belly. How I kissed her 3459029750925 times a day. Sleeping on my bed and resting her head on my pillows. Cleaning up all the puddles of pee that she left on my carpet. Watching her start trouble with Comet. Giving her a bath and wrapping her into a big towel. Licking my feet nonstop. Constantly carrying her baby-style. Hearing her distinct bark. Watching her growl when I try to steal her bone. Having her warm my lap as I sit at the computer. Scrambling to sit in the driver seat and stick her head out the window while I drove. ...the list goes on... Everyone who really knows me understands that I am obsessed and madly in love with Honey. Dead or alive, I will continue to obsess. I'm content that she died when she did. I probably won't be coming home as much in the following years and Honey was just getting older and sicker. God gave me a few months (summer time) to be with her 24/7, and then took her away from me. It just so happened to be on the July 4th weekend. On July 3rd, math class was cancelled so I didn't have to work. As a result, I was able to be with and comfort Honey when she was sick at the vet's office. On July 4th, I didn't have summer school or work. Thus, I got to be right by Honey's side when she died and grieve for the rest of the day at home. It's all about good timing. |
