I'm at Moffitt right now... I'm going to take a break from studying architecture history. Junia and Jay keep reminding me that I'm a "nerd." But what is a nerd?

I always got "you're such a nerd" in high school. BUT... Honestly, I don't think I'm a nerd.

1. An individual persecuted for his superior skills or intellect, most often by people who fear and envy him.
2. A stereotypical label used to describe a person that is socially inadequate. A four letter word, but a six figure income.
3. A person who gains pleasure from amassing large quantities of knowledge about subjects often too detailed or complicated for most other people to be bothered with.

From Dictionary.com
1. an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit
2. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.

My responses to these definitions:
1. Do people really fear and envy me? I know that some people find me intimidating (ex. my brother's girl friends and other random people). However, I don't think my intellect is that astounding to instill fear into others.
2. Socially inadequate?! Jenny Um says that I am one of the most unawkward people she knows. Six figure income? Hello?! I'm majoring in architecture.
3. I don't like studying. I do it because I have to.

1. I don't think I'm obsessed with anything. I was obsessed with my dog, but that's not a hobby.
2. I only know basic computer controls, a teeny bit of HTML, and a tiny bit of photoshop. Everything else, I am totally incompetent.
So how does that make me a nerd?


I admit that in high school, I studied a LOT. I didn't procrastinate and I still don't like doing it. Did that improve my grades, though? No, my grades were only slightly above average. I wasn't a teacher's pet; only a few really liked me (Malone and Lau especially). Oh those were the days. Malone asked ME how the Spanish final should be formatted. I told her "just a vocabulary test" and she succumbed!!! Power. And come on, I was Lau's "star." HAHA! Other than that, just an ordinary student.
