Ni hao, I'd like to introduce you to my dog Comet. He's a rough-haired collie (we cut off his hair in the summer so he won't be hot) and about 7 years old (that's around 45 human years). Cute, right?
Well ever since Honey passed away last year, he's been getting ALL the attention. I would totally baby Honey and give Comet half of the attention I gave her, but now it's all channeled to him. He's definitely taken advantage of it. The Shih family spoils him rotten. It's gotten pretty bad that he often acts like a brat; for example, he jumps on couches and sleeps there when we're not looking and I allow him to sleep on my bed at night (he's pretty big and sometimes takes up most of the bed leaving me squished). He's also become quite the scaredy-cat. He's afraid of STAIRS, especially uncarpeted ones. When he comes into the house, sometimes he runs straight down the stairs to the kitchen, but will never find the guts to make it back up. It results in us having to carry him up the stairs or letting him into the backyard through a door on the lower level. Currently, we're taking care of my dad's coworker's dog Queenie. She's REALLY old--15 years old (that's around 100 human years!). Because she's old, she gets agitated easily if you touch her. My dad was demonstrating to me how to pet her and she almost bit him! It was scary and I vowed never to touch her, but I've softened up a bit after these past couple of days because I feel sorry for her. Whenever I go into the garage, she picks herself up from the ground, and waddles to me (her legs aren't too strong), and stares at me with her big huge puppy eyes. I give in and give her a stroke or two. ANYWAYS. Comet irritated her once and she bit him pretty ferociously on the snout. Ever since then, he's TERRIFIED of her. When she comes near him, he runs to the corner and his tail is curled way between his legs. Now he's even scared to go INTO the garage. Man up, Comet. How are you going to protect the family!? -- There is some HEAVY SWEET talent in Making the Band 4. Those black boys can SING. Boyz 2 Men style.. oooo-weeee! |
