"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us...For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?...But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it."

- Romans 8:18-25

Excuse me, are you related to Yao Ming?

My face has not been this clear in a long time. Hooray!

I can't believe tomorrow is Friday, which means that we've been in school for almost a MONTH. I think I say this all the time, but it never gets old--life just gets faster and faster. Every day disappears like a vapor; sometimes I can't even recall what I did two to three days ago. But that's just the nature of time, isn't it? I'm realizing just how fleeting every hour of every day is.

Due to this fast paced time, I feel like I'm running out of time and I want to get ahead (yes, the "overachiever syndrome" has struck again). If I have any inkling of free time I usually feel compelled to do my work for next week. Sometimes it gets so bad that I prioritize getting ahead above spending time with my precious Lord. WHOA. I need to slow down. I need to be still, enjoy, and bask in prayer and His word.

When did John MacArthur and John Piper start becoming super-human? When did they start equating God? When did they start being the ultimate authority and standard? Brothers and sisters, I pray that we would keep ourselves in check and remind ourselves to not feel a sense of assurance when we know a book or statement was "stamped" by these godly men, but to be steadfast in our understanding of the Word knowing that our Lord is the only one to be deserving of glory and honor! Let us not borrow convictions!

I myself also need to remind myself that being saved is also a sanctification process! I cannot so easily dismiss that a "struggling Christian" may not be any Christian at all. Too often I judge people according to their works and fruits and not their heartful understanding and acceptance of the Gospel. This hit me when I read "Let not him who accepts light in an instant despise him who gropes months in shadows" in Shadow of the Almighty.

I'm excited to meet up regularly with people this semester! Specifically Ms. Myung and Ms. Weng. :)

By the way, I saw the tallest Asian guy I've ever seen in my life. I was walking behind him down Telegraph and WOW... I just kept staring. I tried to walk beside him and estimate where I reached his body (my head level was around his mid arm). Then I walked beside him and used proportions; my calculations came out to be that he was 8.25 feet. However, I was wrong. Nate informed me that he was recruited from China for the Cal Basketball team and he's 7'3". He's a foot taller than Nate!! He's almost two feet taller than me! Crazy!!!
